Yip's Zombie Pirate Skeleton Guy

Man, there are days when Facebook really burns me up! I tried most of the weekend to load pictures on my FB page for family to see and I couldn't get anything to happen. This is one of the reasons I started a blog in the first place, to make sure I could actually share photos!!!

Facebook's crappy photo loading really bugged me this weekend because Yip had a great drawing that he really wanted to show our far away family, especially his Uncle Marvel Man. So, sorry I couldn't get this on FB family but here's a way to check out Yip's latest creation!

Yip says, "The ghost pirate is rising out of the water. The one pirate has a broken vest on. He has a squid in his right eye. They shipwrecked in a jungle and the boat sunk. There's lots of trees and bushes and there is a vine hanging from a tree."

Nicely done bud!

Boil a large pot of water. Add a box of dried pasta and cook for about 5 minutes. Add some sliced carrots and cook for about 2 more minutes. Add a bag of frozen peas and finish cooking until pasta and peas are done. Be careful not to overcook the vegetables. Add some green food coloring and stir until the proper color of seaweed. Serve hot!

More Pirate Stuff...

My sister and I had the best time planning stuff for the pirate party! My sister are cheapskates frugal, so we didn't get too fancy but thought we'd share some of the fun stuff we made for the boys' pirate party. We were greeted on the front porch by a big, and scary, pirate flag Pirate Batman drew.

We did buy a few things; pirate hats and swords and pirate plates and cups. A pitcher of Baracuda Blood (cranberry juice and Sprite) on the table quenched our thirst.

For lunch we had slimy seaweed with fish eyes and gold...

...and cannonballs for dessert.

We bought boxes of animal crackers and painted them brown for treasure chests. We added details with a sharpie marker then hid them outside for the boys to find.

My sister made this pinata from a pizza box and construction paper...isn't she awesome?!

Here's Yip with the winning hit!! And yes he's using a broom to hit the pinata. Why you ask?

Because we adults couldn't find the baseball bat. We found it later in the bathroom...of course. Isn't that where you store your sporting equipment??

Welcome to Pirate Week!

AARRGGHH!! Welcome to our Pirate Party Matey!

Over the weekend, my sister hosted a pirate party at her house to celebrate the beginning of summer rather than separate birthday parties since all our boys have summer birthdays.

We had swords, pirate hats, a treasure hunt, pirate gold, a pinata and LOTS of swordfights. We had authentic pirate grub, slimy seaweed and cannonballs (recipes later this week!). The pirate ship (tree house) braved the stormy seas and held up well to our fighting pirates. Let me introduce our Pirate Crew!

Pirate Batman! This kid is a science nerd! (I can say so because his own mother calls him that.) He can tell you anything you want to know about BATS!

Pirate Monster Boy! NOTHING scares this kid! He actually pretends he has monsters under his bed.

And by far the Cutest Pirate at the party, my 7 month old nephew!

(Sidenote: I've taken hundreds of pics of Yahoo and NEVER gotten this kind of reaction. This was the ONLY pic I took of this baby that day. He could be a baby model!)

Yip and Yap thought they needed pirate clothes for the party so a pair of scissors and some clothes that were too small and VOILA!!...PIRATE COSTUMES! They've been wearing these for a week!

Yahoo came along too but she's not much of a pirate...yet. She spent her day on the slide!

Stay tuned, I'll post more pirate stuff later this week.
