Jesus often took His followers to rest and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. They were there praying on the night before Jesus died. The days before this night had made Jesus very tired. But the next day would be the hardest day of His life - the day He died. He was so weary than an angel came from heaven to help Him .
You may have heard people talk of angels or seen pictures of angels. They don't often show up in Bible stories. Angels appear only when something very important is happening in God's plan. The most important thing that ever happened was Jesus' life. Angels were there right from the beginning. An angel told both Mary and Joseop about Jesus' birth.
Jesus once spent forty days alone in the wilderness. There, He didn't eat, but He prayed. When this time was over, angels came to help Him. the next time angels appeared was here in Gethsemane. Angels were there when Jesus came back to life, too. There was an earthquake when an angel came to Jesus' grave. The Bible says this angel looked like lightning and his clothes were white as snow.
We shouldn't expect angels to appear again until Jesus comes back. Then, Jesus said, "I will come in the glory of my Father with his angels."
Dear God, Help me to focus only on You and Your son - and nothing else. Amen.
