Sunday Devotions for Kids - "Love Your Brother"

"He who loves God must love his brother also" (1 John 4:21)

Did you ever wonder how God wants us to show that we love Him?  This verse gives us an idea. "He who loves God must love his brother also."

Love his brother? Who is your brother? Does that mean you have to show love to that brother who Mom and Dad make you share a room with? Is your "brother" your friend at school? Can your "brother" be a girl?  Yes and more.

Yes, your family and friends are brothers according to this verse but God doesn't want us to stop there. God wants us to show love to all people, everywhere! God wants us to love people we know and people we don't, people we like and people we don't like.

It can be hard to show this kind of love but God shows this kind of love to us everyday. He loves people who go to church and He loves people in jail. He loves people who are nice and people who are mean. We are all children of God! Everyone! And just like your Mom and Dad don't stop loving you when you do something wrong, God never stops loving us even when we do something wrong.

So, how do we show God that we love him? By loving others they same way he loves us. Help those in need. Be kind to someone even if they aren't kind to you. By acting in this way we are telling God, without words, how much we love him. Because this is how he loves us.

Dear God, Thank you so much for loving me, all the time no matter what I do. Help me God to show your love to others, all the time, everyday. Amen.

I'd love to hear what you have to say! I try to reply to every one of them.
