Marker Monday - Animation and Tricking Your Eye

Here's a fun and easy activity to introduce the concept of animation and how it tricks your eye by making drawings move very fast.

First, cut a piece of sturdy paper or cardstock in a rectangle. This measures 5" x 3 3/4".

Fold the paper in half and draw a picture on each side. Something like this.

Now fold the paper in half and glue together with a barbeque skewer between the two sides. (You should have plenty leftover from making flowers!)

So one side will have the face on it and the other will have the hat mustache and bow tie.

Now use your hands to spin the skewer very fast. What you will see is the two drawings superimposed on one another....so the face will look as though it has a hat, mustache and bowtie!

Some other ideas would be to put a flower in a pot or fish in a bowl! Be creative and have fun!

I'd love to hear what you have to say! I try to reply to every one of them.
